Although Dallas and Fort Worth are together known as the metroplex, they’re kind of like peas and carrots. They go together beautifully, but they have two very separate, special and distinct identities – and that’s what makes thousands of relocating families and individuals move here every year.

Consider that from July 2008 to July 2009, nearly 150,000 new residents chose to move to the area – and for good reason. Both Dallas and Fort Worth offer plenty of recreational opportunities that speak to the area’s overall quality of life, including more than 200 golf courses, hundreds of area parks, fun entertainment venues like the Fort Worth Stockyards and Six Flags, and renowned cultural amenities like the Morton Meyerson Symphony Center, the Kimbell Art Museum, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and much more.

The metroplex is also home to five professional sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys (NFL); Dallas Stars (NHL); Dallas Mavericks (NBA); FC Dallas (MLS) and the Texas Rangers (MLB), plus NASCAR and Indy racing - giving residents plenty of opportunities to experience the area and all it has to offer.

It's a pretty big area, too, with 10 major metro areas and 12 counties. Counties include Collin, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise, while major metro areas include Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano, Irving, Garland, Carrollton, Denton, McKinney, and Richardson, with many smaller communities in between. All in all, the metroplex covers 9,286 square miles - making it larger than both Rhode Island and Connecticut combined!

With a low cost of living, affordable housing, a temperate climate, top companies, employment opportunities, a renowned restaurant scene, and two airports that together offer more than 1,900 flights daily, it's easy to see why - in whichever metroplex city you choose to make your home - that the Dallas/Fort Worth area is a great place to put down roots.

The Dallas of the famed "Dallas" television show is certainly alive and well here, but today's city offers both residents and visitors a chic mystique, great quality of life, affordable housing, a vibrant arts and culture community, and something for everyone to enjoy. According to the 2010 Census, Dallas is the ninth-largest city in the U.S. with a population of more than 1.2 million. In fact, the area was ranked as the second-fastest growing area in the nation from 2000 to 2010 - just behind Houston.
